Equine Connection Sessions

Sensory-friendly equine connection sessions designed to build confidence, calm, communication, and joy. Horse Connection Sessions are designed for individuals seeking calm, connection through meaningful and individualized experiences with horses and nature.

As a military veteran with over 35 years of equine experience and experiences working with special needs children, I’ve seen firsthand how deeply horses can calm, comfort, and soothe the soul. After witnessing the joy and connection a nonverbal autistic child experienced at Gypsy Farms, I felt inspired to create peaceful, supportive horse-centered experiences for both children and adults.

FAQ Section

Are these sessions only for children?

Not at all. While many families seek out horse connection experiences for children, adults are equally welcome. Many adults find time with horses to be grounding, restorative, confidence-building, and deeply calming. Sessions can be adapted for individuals, parent-child experiences, or small private groups.

How do I know if this is a good fit for me or my child?

You do not need horse experience to benefit from these sessions. Whether you are seeking confidence-building, sensory-friendly experiences, emotional reset time, or simply meaningful connection with horses and nature, sessions are adapted to meet you where you are. We’re happy to begin with a conversation to determine whether the experience feels like a good fit.

Is riding required?

The primary focus of our sessions is connection, confidence-building, sensory exploration, and horse interaction through grooming, leading, and hands-on activities. Limited riding exposure may be introduced if and when appropriate, depending on the individual's comfort level, safety, and goals.

Are sessions private or group-based?

Most sessions are currently offered one-on-one or in very small groups to help maintain a peaceful, supportive environment and allow for individualized attention.

What if someone is afraid of horses?

That is completely okay. There is never pressure to touch, lead, or interact beyond what feels comfortable. Building trust slowly and respectfully is an important part of the experience.

Do participants need to talk or communicate verbally?

No verbal communication is required. Horses naturally respond to body language, presence, rhythm, and energy, which allows many individuals to connect comfortably in their own way.

Can siblings or family members participate together?

In some cases, yes. Family or sibling sessions may be available depending on scheduling, goals, and the comfort level of the participants.

What are the benefits of horse connection experiences?

While every person is different, many participants experience:

  • increased confidence

  • calm and emotional regulation

  • sensory engagement

  • mindfulness and grounding

  • connection with nature

  • improved focus and patience

  • joy, curiosity, and emotional connection

We focus on creating positive experiences rather than specific outcomes or expectations.
